Important Nursing Certifications for Gainful Employment
A career in nursing is rewarding, challenging, and life-changing. As a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you鈥檒l work as a part of a medical team to offer patient care, as resources for families, and support for doctors and other members of the nursing team.
Today鈥檚 healthcare landscape provides additional opportunities to set oneself apart as a nurse, including available certifications and specialties that increase employability and develop skills. In addition to 国产福利姬鈥檚 comprehensive nursing program, where you can earn an associate鈥檚 or bachelor鈥檚 degree of science (ASN or BSN), you can explore other areas of nursing that provide more opportunities to do the work you were meant to do.
Domestic Violence Nurse: Patients in this field have special and unique needs, medically, financially and emotionally speaking. To add this certification to your ASN or BSN, you can take the forensic nursing certification exam after training as a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE).
Nurse Midwife: A nurse midwife provides specialized care to women during and immediately after pregnancy. To begin midwife-related work, you can specialize your professional focus on this realm of care, but to become a Certified Nurse Midwife, you must first obtain a master鈥檚 degree, as decreed in 2010 by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
Holistic Nurse: Holistic nurses might provide dietary consulting, acupuncture, aromatherapy or hypnosis procedures, wellness coaching, and more. Holistic Nurses are required to meet contact hour minimums as they pursue certification.
Developmental Disability Nurse (DDN): A special needs nurse provides an extra level of care for patients with mental or developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome or ASD, and provides familial support as well. While it is not necessary to begin work as a DDN, the certification offers a resume and skill boost.
Anesthesia Nurse: A Certified Registered Nurses Anesthetist (CRNA) must obtain graduate-level education and certification. These nurses work in operating rooms and private facilities, outpatient centers, dental offices, ICUs and more.
Many more certifications and specialties are available for nurses with particular interests or areas of skill and proficiency, including dermatology, diabetes, transplant, burn care, legal consulting and critical care.
