Fire Officer I

Acting Officer in Charge for the Fire Service – For firefighters ready to take on more responsibility and step into leadership in their fire company, this 32-hour program is ideal. Individuals in this program will learn about or refresh their skills in management and communications.

Transitional and Interpersonal Leadership – This 42-hour course is the second step toward becoming a company officer. Students in this program will examine the personal and professional changes in themselves with respect to the ethics of firefighting and how such changes serve fire department management.

Fire Department Supervision – These 36-hours comprise the final step toward Fire and Emergency Services Personnel Fire Officer 1 level. In this stage, students will become acquainted with the detailed roles and responsibilities of fire officer level 1 positions. Education will include communications modeling, firefighter training, educational programming, public relations, general administration duties, and health and safety concerns.

Fire Officer II

Fire Department Management – Throughout these 80 hours in training, candidates will become familiar with the job requirements of a Company Officer for Fire and Emergency Services. Included in the coursework are such concepts as governmental theory, human resources, administrative responsibilities, policies and procedures, fire prevention, risk and information management, management, incident protocols, and post-incident analysis.
