Our West Palm Beach campus is proud to announce that its Associate Degree in Nursing program has been granted initial accreditation from ACEN.

Paramedic School Requirements

The first responders in emergency situations will be paramedics who come to the scene.

Paramedics provide life-supporting services for hospitals, private health agencies, fire departments, nursing homes, and more. Professional paramedics must complete the necessary training for EMT-Paramedic before becoming certified as paramedics in the field.

Application Requirements for Paramedic School

You can complete your training for EMT-Paramedic at Health Career Institute. Paramedic school requirements include proof of being at least 18 years of age with a valid driver鈥檚 license, high school diploma or G.E.D., transcripts from previous 国产福利姬s attended, and a completed Enrollment Agreement and Application with appropriate fees.

In addition to those general admissions requirements, students seeking to enroll in the EMT-Paramedic program will need a current physician-signed physical completed within the last 12 months, a current 10 Panel Drug Screen within 60 days of the first day of class, and current FDLE Level II Background within 6 months of the first day of class. Paramedic school students will need to provide a copy of a current license as a Florida State EMT or be eligible to sit for the EMT licensure exam.

Requirements for Paramedic School

国产福利姬鈥檚 paramedic school consists of 45 credits that will be completed over a 12-month period. Paramedic students will gain 422 hours of classroom lecture instruction in Paramedic I, II, and III, as well as combined courses for Hospital/Field experience.

The 540-hours externship prepares Paramedic students to enter the field as qualified EMT-Paramedics through hands-on training in actual emergency situations. Paramedic school students will spend 240 practical hours on an ambulance and 160 hours within an emergency hospital setting.

The program prepares Paramedic students to function in a pre-hospital setting at an advanced level with training in patient assessments, administration of medications, EKG monitoring, and advanced resuscitation procedures.

Students will also learn effective communication as well as ethics and legal considerations while on the job as an EMT-P. Paramedic students will earn a diploma and be eligible to take the Florida State Paramedic program upon successful completion. EMT-P licenses are issued by the State of Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services after passing the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) paramedic exam.
